Blues music is playing, and you feel like dancing. What makes the dancing blues? We'll explore some of the common elements of the blues dances, including pulses, posture, grounding and interaction with the music. This class will also cover the basics of a few of the blues dances. Come in and get down!
Essential TurnsYou see people turning effortlessly, a long string of turns to a new spot on the dance floor. There are also gritty paddle turns, with great rhythms in small spaces. We'll show you how to make these turns yours. After this class you'll have the tools to lead and follow turns that look and feel great.
Put On Your Traveling ShoesGet somewhere with style! It's about the journey, not the destination, and we'll give you some great ways to travel. This class will play with textures, rhythms and styling you and your partner can incorporate into your dance.

Explore four different ways of connecting to your partner, as well as different ways of thinking about lead and follow dynamics. We'll refine your close embrace so it feels oh-so-good, give you amazing flexibility for your open connection, and fabulous dynamics for connections between.
On the PulsePulse is one of the elements that gives the blues dances their aesthetic. Diversify and deepen your movement by adding a wide range of pulses. We’ll explore pendular, down, up and other pulses. Play with single, double and multi-pulse rhythms, creating diversity and complex rhythmic play in your movement.
Muddy WolfGet low-down and dirty with some of our favorite jukin' dances. Feel the gut-busting grit of blues artists like Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf, and put that feeling in your dancing.

Ain't no school like black and white video clips. We'll cover some classic ballroomin' movements from the documentary "Spirit Moves", then give you some modern innovations that have evolved from those movements.
"Oooh, Ahhhh”Sometimes you want to make an audience say “Ooooh.” We’ll teach you a few of our favorite crowd-pleasing lifts and dips. You may have heard “It’s not what you do, it’s the way that you do it” - to us that’s what separates good tricks from great tricks. We’ll emphasize body mechanics that will make these tricks look (and feel) wonderful, stand out from the crowd, and make musical statements.
Dance HugsMelt into beautiful close embrace with your partner. Explore new movements and settle deeply into the feeling of the blues. Once you experience magical close embrace, you may never want to do anything else.
